Technology at the Agency
Technology has long been a critical element of the CIA’s mission, most recently evidenced by naming the Agency’s first Chief Technology Officer and establishing a new Transnational and Technology Mission Center, to work as partners with our Directorates of Science and Technology and Digital Innovation. As a voracious consumer and innovative creator of technology, CIA leverages the work of American technology companies to augment all aspects of our mission. When it comes to emerging technology, if we’re not the inventor, we want to be an early adopter – informing and shaping technologies applications – investing in the future is essential for our national security.
Private Sector Partnerships
CIA does not carry out its mission alone. Partnerships are essential to all of our activities, and they are especially critical with respect to staying in advance of our adversary’s technical capabilities. CIA seeks partners from all market segments and levels to support our tactical and strategic technology initiatives. Partners bring knowledge and insights as well as opportunities in joint research and development and talent exchange that can be leveraged by CIA. We want to leverage our home field advantage and are working to open new doors and build relationships with partners that can propel our mission forward.
